DeLanee's Story

10 years ago, Becky and Tommy, were blessed to be pregnant with their second child. Shortly thereafter they learned that they were going to be parents to a little girl, but the probability of their daughter living for very long was extremely low. Their daughter was diagnosed with a condition called Dandy-Walker Cyst. The doctors believed that their baby girl would deteriorate and pass away during pregnancy, but much to their surprise DeLanee developed until 28 weeks gestation when she was delivered and lived for three hours. As you can imagine, these 3 hours was precious time that they spent as a family with their daughter taking pictures, bathing, dressing and holding her until she passed away in their arms. Upon DeLanee's passing, the nurses brought the family a box to put their daughter’s belongings in to take home with them. Because DeLanee was born in January the nurses were able to find a leftover Christmas box. That Christmas box became extremely special to them and they clung to it and the contents inside that held their daughter’s precious belongings as they left the hospital without their baby. It was because of this box that the inspiration for Lanee’s Legacy began. . .

Midnight Oil = Success!

We are moving forward with amazing progress and have some EXCITING news to report. But before we get to that, we felt you should get to see some behind the scenes from Lanee's Legacy and how we are pulling this all together.

Becky's kitchen table is surrounded at least a couple of nights out of the week with her greatest helpers: Heather, Erika and Rayel. Meetings usually commence around 9:00 p.m. lasting several hours as everyone works to pull this together. QT has been our greatest companion keeping our ambition fueled on through the night (yes, we'll plug them - they're donating too)! We received a wonderful letter from them telling us that they "value the work" and want to "help further the cause". It is so amazing to see our organization progress and we have all agreed that it has taken on a life of it's own and we are are just holding on for the ride!

First things first. If you haven't already gotten your tickets to our pancake breakfast through our paypal account, we have our actual tickets printed and ready to sell!! You can contact us through laneeslegacy@hotmail.com with how many tickets you want ($5 for one, or, $25 for 6) and how to contact you and we will make sure they get to you. Keep in mind that we accept cahiers check or money order through mail only. If you want to pick them up, we'll take cash.

Okay, so on to some amazing news. If you listen to Movin' 97.5, your familiar with the morning show Lukas and Nina. Lukas has graciously offered to attend our event as our emcee. We're confident that he's sure to keep us "movin"! (Sorry, we couldn't help ourselves!)

If you've seen us on facebook, you'll notice our group has grown to over 300 members in just 9 days, THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts. We are truly humbled, and our e-mail continues to swell with people offering donations and support. With just over 6 weeks until pancake flippin time, we are anxiously burning the midnight oil to make sure it is a success!

Don't judge us too harshly, we took this at 1:00 a.m.!

What an amazing thing you ladies are doing. These boxes are something that is so important. I speak from experience. I have not lost one of my own children, but my experience is from the other side of the bedside. I am a nurse and have tried my best to help many families through the pain of leaving without their baby. I can only do so much and appreciate being able to hand them something. So please keep up the wonderful work.
