DeLanee's Story

10 years ago, Becky and Tommy, were blessed to be pregnant with their second child. Shortly thereafter they learned that they were going to be parents to a little girl, but the probability of their daughter living for very long was extremely low. Their daughter was diagnosed with a condition called Dandy-Walker Cyst. The doctors believed that their baby girl would deteriorate and pass away during pregnancy, but much to their surprise DeLanee developed until 28 weeks gestation when she was delivered and lived for three hours. As you can imagine, these 3 hours was precious time that they spent as a family with their daughter taking pictures, bathing, dressing and holding her until she passed away in their arms. Upon DeLanee's passing, the nurses brought the family a box to put their daughter’s belongings in to take home with them. Because DeLanee was born in January the nurses were able to find a leftover Christmas box. That Christmas box became extremely special to them and they clung to it and the contents inside that held their daughter’s precious belongings as they left the hospital without their baby. It was because of this box that the inspiration for Lanee’s Legacy began. . .

Happy Birthday Elizabeth!

Today we recognize sweet Elizabeth who was born to Rebecca, a member of our organization. Seven years ago, Rebecca received a box from Lanee's Legacy when her daughter was born still. Since then she has been an amazing example of service ...and hope as she has donated countless hours through this organization. She pours her heart and soul into the work she does so selflessly and many, many families have benefited from her tremendous generosity. Happy birthday to sweet Elizabeth! We are so thankful for the impact you have made on our lives and for sharing your sweet mother with us.

Box Making with INSPIRE

We had the opportunity to meet an awesome group of teenagers and their leaders as they helped us make 50 bereavement boxes. Inspire Music is an organization who not only teaches music, but participates in a monthly service project in the community. Thanks so much for choosing us! Thanks to Chelsea Sackett for the beautiful pictures of the work we did that day!! http://inspiremusicservicehope.org/

A very special lady!

Words just cannot express how we feel about the very special lady pictured here, Marlo Alder. Marlo lives in a rural part of Southeastern Arizona. Not only has she done tremendous things to help her own community and local hospital (Mt. Graham Regional Hospital), but her efforts have reached far and wide as hospitals all over Arizona have benefited from her service and support. In 2010, she held a box making with her church group and local college students from Eastern Arizona College. In 2011, she held a fundraiser in memory of her son called "Loops for Logan" which raised much needed funds for our organization. In, 2013 she drove a very long way to assist us with our "Remembrance Box Making" only to turn around and drive right back home (getting home very late). Now, in 2014 her and her awesome husband obtained a donation from Freeport McMoRan Copper and Gold in the amount of $2,500.00!! This was something she worked very hard and diligently for as she accomplished all that was needed in order to continue to support bereaved families. Marlo - we love you! We love your kind and generous spirit and all the hard work you have committed to for families in need. You are truly an angel! Our biggest thanks to Marlo, her husband and Freeport McMoran for their amazing generosity!

Have you met the Perry Family?

We would like to introduce you to an amazing couple that have supported Lanee's Legacy in many ways throughout the years. Not only have they volunteered at and attended events, but they have also helped to host a box making and most recent...ly have been able to pull from resources available to them and designate Lanee's Legacy as their charity of choice so that we receive recurring monthly donations from Cox Communications. What a very thoughtful and special couple they are. Lanee's Legacy has truly benefited from their generous hearts and continued support. Thank you Ryan and Kami Perry....parents of Kooper Perry. Also, thank you to Cox Communications for offering a program that non-profit organizations like us may benefit from.

Remembrance Box Making

This box making was different and very special in comparison to other box makings we have done.  We made over 80 boxes and each one of them was made in memory of a baby that was gone too soon.  Every one of those boxes was filled not just with supplies, but an incredible amount of love!  It was so beautiful to see families working in their baby's memory....knowing that the box they were creating would be given to another family facing a similar path.  What a labor of love!!  THANKS goes to all those who came and supported our event, those who donated and those who gave service that night in helping things to run smoothly.  A great big thank you to Becky Hancock who catered the event ALL FREE OF CHARGE with the most delicious food!  There are truly amazing people in this world!  People who are so generous and selfless and go above and beyond in times of need to help.  I LOVE that I get glimpses into this goodness.  It brings hope into what can seem like a cruel world at times.  It shows what we as human beings really are!   That we love and serve and support and look for those who stand in need of help and reach out to them!  How blessed we are to witness these acts of love and service!!

YAY! 2 More Days until our "Remembrance Box Making"

We are now just 2 days away from our "Remembrance Box Making"!  We are so excited!!  We have had a great response to this event and can't wait to work with all of you on Saturday as we honor our babies and help future families who will experience this loss.

If you haven't already signed up, today is your last day to do so.  You just need to click on our donate button to the right and remember to leave your baby's name in the comment section.  The event is this Saturday at the Marriott Convention Center (200 N. Centennial Way) in downtown Mesa at 6:00 p.m.  All are welcome to come even if you have not reserved a box and do not have anyone specific to create a box for.  We have MANY hospitals who are just waiting for this event to be over so that we can make deliveries and. . .having many hands make light work!!

Not only will we be making boxes, but we have received many donations from businesses who would like to participate in our raffle to help make our event a success!  We will be selling tickets that night for $1.00 or 6 for $5.00.  We have amazing prizes from places like:

AND MORE. . .

We will also be blessed to have the gals from "Chicks with Picks" attending our event to add some music to our night!!  What an amazing group of girls who offer their talents for organizations like ours!!

If you can't tell, we are SUPER excited for Saturday.  We have found ourselves wondering why we have not done an event like this before?!?  We are hoping to make this an annual tradition and just know that this first one will be a huge success!!  Come be a part of it!!!

See you all Saturday!!
